What is it about?

This will be a 2-day event involving hands-on sessions, a series of talks on the open-source development and also would feature the opening of a new Mozilla Firefox Club in National Institute of Technology, Silchar.


What to expect?

Here is the glimpse of few of the session you can look forward to:

1. Power Of Open Source

How is Open Source considered as the heart of IT world? Why is this important & how can you benefit from Open Source culture? How can you join any Open source community? This Workshop will also cover information about what all you need to submit your first patch to any open source software! In the hands-on session, we will try to get you to fix open issues from some open source projects & get your first patches sent as Pull Requests right away.

2.  Mozilla Community

The talks will feature spreading awareness about Mozilla, its mission, and products. About Mozilla’s global community, Indian community & its impact. About students communities & details about different volunteering opportunities with Mozilla.

3.  Building VR Websites

The main limelight of this workshop will feature one of most hot topics in emerging technologies today. There will be hands-on session to introduce VR, WebVR & A-Frame library to students. Students will learn how to cakewalk virtual reality website building super quickly.

4.  IOT & Web of Things

One of the important segments of the workshop would be to make the students give an understanding of IoT & its current state. Students will learn about the “Web of Things” (WoT), which is the idea of taking the lessons learned from the World Wide Web and applying them to IoT. Also, students can know how WoT can help us towards a decentralized IoT with new standards around security, privacy, and interoperability.

5.  Demystifying modern frontend Technologies.

The web is changing overnight & many different libraries and frameworks are adopted & dropped by the JS community in no time! This workshop aims to teach it’s students how the modern JS looks like today & what ups and downs are going on in the web industry right now. Additionally, students will also learn the security & privacy aspect of the web as well, which is one of the hot topics of the recent time
